A Stranger’s Smile

Where do you draw courage,
When in the midst of drifters?
Do you shy than encourage,
Than seek a friend from this strangers?
Do you ever stop and glance,
To find a face you like?
Or do you happen to chance,
A smile that surely strikes?
Somehow I did – and boy I saw,
Your friendly face and smile,
That there hint no such flaw,
Only gentleness not guile.
A smile that surely shows,
Its power to touch a heart.
Though little else you know,
I thank you from the start,
A moment to remember by –
When you smiled.
